This blog was initially created to discuss and plan my traveling journeys. In the beginning stage of this all, I realized that I would need to align my level of physical and mental fitness with my dreams. When I began this blog in July of last year… I was 206lbs, a 1/2 – full pack a day smoker, I drank 3-5 days a week and well, frankly, you don’t want to know my relationship with food. I was confident and full of life, but barely able to walk up a hill without needing a break at the top (granted, hills in San Francisco are quite daunting). I knew that I could not accomplish my dreams of traveling and adventuring if I was physically unable to seize the opportunities that would be presented to me. At the persistence of my ever-pushing-for-me-to-be-the-best-I-can-be best friend, I began working out with a trainer which has unfolded a different kind of passion for me. Over the past 11 months, I have lost 50lbs and received so much support and kindness along a different sort of journey. To align my love for traveling and fitness with my ultimate passion – people, I plan to broaden the term ‘journey’ to be not just of travel, but also of self in the hope of inviting others along with me.
Any journey requires change and planning. I fully believe that small changes will bring about the most sustainable progress. I’ve always been an instant gratification, short term goal kind of gal. But fitness has taught me the patience, persistence and spirit needed to be capable of accomplishing long term goals. In both my personal and professional life, I am using these new skills to figure out what my long term goals are and what it takes to get there. Not what will sustain me at the moment but what can I do in this moment to sustain me in the long run?
